As recently arrived passengers sort themselves out on the platform, two joined "Koploper" intercity train sets rest on Utrecht Centraal Station track (spoor) #11. The Koploper ("head walker" or more properly, "front runner") was designed so that passengers could move between joined train sets (note the doors under the driver's [engineer's] compartment). Apparently, this design feature never worked very well, and the doors between train sets are now permanently sealed. |
